Strikeforce might not be a household name but they’re UFC’s biggest threat. Strikeforce even partnered up with EA to release the EA MMA game. This is there first ever DVD release. The two disc set features 3 events, showcasing their biggest stars including Fedor Emelianenko, Allistair Overeem, Cung Le and Renato “Babalu” Sobral.

Brock Lesnar was the undisputed champion before Saturday night, overpowering his opponents and beating the crap out of them.  But on Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, challenger Cain Velasquez stepped up to the bully and beat the champ in the first round.  I don’t really care that Brock lost because he’s still new to the MMA scene (2 years) .  But I didn’t like the fact that he just curled up like a baby as Velasquez was punching him.  Lesnar did this too against Carwin but he recovered and won the fight.  Lesnar should’ve learned from the Carwin …

Whether he likes it or not, Urijah Faber is the face of WEC.  Faber gained loyal fans by defending his featherweight belt for more than 2 years.  Not only is he one of the best fighters in the world, he’s also one of the most exciting.  He takes risks and always puts on a great fight.

Long Beach Fight Night was back again for its 10^th MMA event and this was the best so far.  The action packed night was filled with knockouts as the fighters put on a great show for the  near sold out crowd.

Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez (HW Title Match) – Brock Lesnar is a great champion, and a phenomenal wrester with a lot of heart, ask Shane Carwin. But, Lesnar’s biggest weakness is his stand-up skills. Lesnar should take this fight to the ground, or he will get KOd. Velasquez is the smaller fighter, but packs a lot of power behind his punches. I stopped by  Nam Phan’s MMA academy last night for a free lesson.  Phan didn’t roll with us as he was preparing several students for a tournament.  For those that don’t know, Phan is currently on the Ultimate Fighter show on Spike.  Some MMA fans were wondering if his humble persona is just an act because Kyle Watson (Ultimate Fighter contestant) wrote on his blog that Phan lied to him.  After the class, Phan agreed to do an interview and answer any questions I had, including “lying” on last week’s show and sparring hard at his academy.

Martin Kampmann is one of UFC’s rising stars. Actually, he already is a star. He sports a record of 17-3 and is not planning on slowing down anytime soon. UFC 121 on Saturday (Oct. 23rd, 2010) will be one of the biggest fights in his career against the highly touted grappler, Jake Shields. Dana White has stated that Shields will probably get a Title shot if he beats Martin Kampmann. But, Kampmann isn’t planning on making it easy for Shields as he trains hard at the Xtreme Couture Gym for the showdown come Saturday in Anaheim, CA.

Two of the world’s top 205ers are training together in Dan Henderson’s camp in Temecula, CA.

Dan Henderson is billed to fight the experienced, Renato “Babalu” Sobral come Dec. 4th.

Gegard Mousasi

Training together is good for both fighters. Gegard Mousasi lost his belt to a wrestler in King Mo. Maybe Henderson can help Mousasi tighten up his wrestling. On the other hand, Henderson can learn a few moves from Mousasi, as Mousasi has already defeated Henderson’s future opponent, Babalu.
