Documentary Review: Buffalo Girls [Thailand] 2012

Buffalo Girls is an amazing documentary about two impoverished 8 year old Muay Thai fighters who earn money through fighting to help their families survive in rural Thailand. The film follows Pet and Stam both in the ring and out, as they make their way along Thailand’s underground child boxing arena. While both girls are great at Muay Thai, their disparity is evident not only physically and in their techniques, but socially, financially and in the way they approach their careers.  I had seen clips of kids fighting in Thailand in the past but they always seemed inexperienced. Not the case …

Blu-Ray Review: Enter The Dragon 40th Anniversary Edition

enter the dragon Blu Ray Review: Enter The Dragon 40th Anniversary Edition

To me, Enter the Dragon is a classic for one reason, Bruce Lee. Lee changed the landscape of martial arts cinema in the 70s when he introduced a more “realistic” style of fighting, rather than the traditional “Crouching Tiger” style of kung-fu. Not to mention that many martial artists today consider Lee the pioneer of MMA (mixed martial arts). Lee’s philosophy is, to discard what is useless, and take what is useful. It doesn’t matter what style it came from. This philosophy is showcased in the first part of Enter the Dragon, when Lee uses grappling to beat down …

King Of The Cage: Devestation Results

Held at San Manuel Casino, King of the Cage delivered again with 8 fights for the event.  The event’s title, Devestation, lived up to its name as fighters threw down and put on the show for the enthusiastic crowd.

Justin Cook vs. Kevin Michel
Both fighters set a quick pace and it was a back and forth battle on the ground.  Cook had Michel’s back several times but couldn’t capitalize.  After a scramble, Michel was inside Cook’s guard.  Michel hit Cook with hard punches from the top and the ref stopped the fight as Cook couldn’t defend himself.

UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche… Saturday 2/23

This is it, folks, the day Dana White officially eats his words about women never fighting in the UFC.  Of course, the UFC purchased Strikeforce since he said that and they already had female MMA fighters so it was really only a matter of time… Even back in August of 2012, White was hinting around about it on a special featuring Ronda Rousey.

In December Dana White held a press conference standing next to an attractive young, blonde, probably giving off a first impression to those unfamiliar with Rousey that he was introducing the next UFC ring girl.  Instead, White announced …
