North Korea Airs Western-Made Film

North Korea Airs Western-Made Film

Believe it or not, this is huge. North Korea is a country that prides itself on its collectivistic culture. Americans and other western countries think differently: our cultures are individualistic.  North Koreans, on the other hand, think as a group. They consider that their strength. “The Mass Games,” which is sort of like the Olympics and a Broadway show mixed together, is an expression of this group mentality where something like 100,000 participants, gymnasts, dancers, athletes and students, put on this big show for the country’s leader and for the people. They practice and practice until they are moving as one …

Reboot News: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

404233 Reboot News: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Fashionably late to the fanged mania which has gripped the country, Warner Bros. has announced that they are going ahead with a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot.  But the kicker is that Joss Whedon (Buffy writer and brain behind the 1992 film and subsequent hit TV series) will not be involved.  Here is an excerpt from Whedon’s reaction according to E! Online:

This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths—just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with

Gwyneth Paltrow Sings Country At The CMA

Paltrow sings Country Strong at the CMA.

I remember her from Hook as the young Wendy, then she was on Se7en as Brad Pitt’s girlfriend/wife. Her biggest blockbuster as of late is Iron-man, as she plays Pepper Potts. She is a good actor, but can she transition well into Country music?…

tonyscottbanner Director Tony Scott Back For Top Gun 2

The director of Top Gun, Tony Scott, has agreed to helm the sequel.  I might be wrong on this but I think this is the first time Scott is doing a sequel.  His previous projects such as Spy Game, Crimson Tide and Deja Vu have all been stand alone flicks.  Scott will team up again with producer Jerry Bruckheimer (The Rock, Prince Of Persia) and Tom Cruise.  Cruise will have a small role in the sequel, he’ll be more of a mentor than the ace pilot.  No word yet who’ll play lead.

No release date has been announced by Paramount.…

mann Michael Mann’s Next Project Could Be A Period Epic

Everytime I hear Michael Mann’s name, I get excited. That’s because I’m a big fan of Last of the Mohicans and Heat. This time around, his next project could be a Period epic set in the world of Henry V. Or, he could go a different route and do another crime drama (Big Tuna) set in Chicago. But, wasn’t Public Enemies set in Chicago?

Superman: Earth One

Superman: Earth One

What if a very green Clark Kent lived in today’s world? Where would his journey take him, and what would eventually decide his fate to become Superman? This is the premise of J. Michael Straczynski’s Superman: Earth One.

From DC:

“This is a Superman for the 21st century. With SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE, Straczynski and Davis inject the folk tale and legend that is Superman’s origin with a modern, vital and forward-looking energy that makes for a refreshing, epic and challenging super-hero adventure. In SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE – the first original graphic novel retelling Superman’s origin — Clark Kent is …
