The 2011 SDCC Hasbro selection was great and featured Zarana in two styles including the vintage theme of pink and blue and the “Cold Slither” version in mostly black with black hair. The sister of Dreadnok Zartan, Zarana was a favorite of both boys and girls alike in the 80’s.

The vintage action figure featured a color changing plastic that when in the sun or heat as it was, the skin tone would change to blue-ish—it looked cooler in the commercials!

The single figure for July is Spikor, the spiny, purple, pig-nosed warrior.  One of the most straight forward figures, Spikor is a great addition to the collector’s shelf.

Spikor dons removable armor with pointy spikes that could actually bother you if you squeeze too hard.  His head features the same firm spikes, a great sculpt and some painted up eyes.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back, and Playmates is pulling out all the stops for a totally tubular TMNT toy line to coincide with a new cartoon set to debut on Nickelodeon in the fall. From Hasbro and Shout Factory comes Transformers Prime- One Shall Stand on DVD. Transformers Prime is the current animated program featuring everyone’s favorite transforming robots! Animated in CGI, the details of the robots are great; however Optimus Prime has the most detail down to scratched paint. With favorite characters appearing such as Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ratchet and Arcee, the Autobots battle the Decepticons for control of the Earth.

Good news Walking Dead fans!  Universal Studios Hollywood & Orlando will have Walking Dead mazes for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights.  This won’t be similar to Comic Con’s maze where it was more of an obstacle course.  There won’t be heavy running on Universal’s mazes but it might be more terrifying because the zombies will have awesome make up and props.  The maze will re-enact famous scenes from the tv show.

Jem is her name and no one else is the same! In 1986 those words were what this fictional rock star sang to legions of little girls and adventure-loving boys, as she and her band, “The Holograms” performed on children’s television sets for about three seasons. “Got to get tough, YO JOE!” Man, was this a blast from the past, I remember 1991 where I was getting older and my interest was starting to wane from the usual cartoons; however, I never missed G.I. Joe.

The last 2 seasons of G.I. Joe were made by DiC who is famous for ‘Inspector Gadget’ and ‘Kidd Video’ and are known for really nice cartoon art and great voice acting and this final series of G.I. Joe really showcased some fine voice work.
