 Meeting Boxing Great, Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao is one of the best boxers in the world, many consider him to be the pound for pound king of the sport. I’ve always wanted to meet him because I’m a big fight fan, and consider him to be a living legend.  After a tip from Spawn board member, OutkastxLeo, me and Mongoose headed out to Pacquiao’s training center in Hollywood, the Wildcard Gym.

zatanna pic 1 Interview with Serinda Swan: Actress and Smallville Guest Star (DC Comics Zatanna)

Serinda Swan is an actress and model. She recently guest starred as the DC Comics’ magician Zatanna on the excellent episode of Smallville called Hex. Smallville has been on The CW Network for 8 seasons now and is one of my favorite television series of all time. NERDSociety recently interviewed Ms. Swan and asked her about her career and her awesome role on Smallville.

NERDSociety.com (NS): Serinda, tell our readers a little about yourself. How long have you been involved in acting ? How did you get your career start?

Serinda Swan (SS): I have been involved in acting since I …

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Ghostbusters Highway Haunter

One reason why I love the toys in the 80’s is the creativity. Highway Haunter looks like a regular Volkswagen Beetle at first. Press a couple of buttons and it transforms into a big ass praying mantis.

The wheels really work and you can play with it as a regular car or as a monster. Right now I have Peter riding the car with his date.  They’re in for a surprise.

You can check out more pictures of the Highway Haunter and other vintage toys in our photo gallery.

Terminator Salvation Trading Cards

Terminator Salvation Trading Cards

Get doooooooowwwn….to your local card shops in May.  Topps is releasing trading cards for Terminator Salvation.  The cards will have inserts such as Embossed Foil robots, as well as pop up battle cards.  Since when did trading cards start doing pop ups?

The ones I really want to get are the autograph cards.  Imagine having John Connor’s/Bruce Wayne’s autograph…that would be Christian Bale.   The retail price is $2 per pack.  Check out below for a preview of the cards.  The concept sketches are pretty cool:

Interview with OC Fighter: Thomas Kenney

I first met Thomas Kenney when my friend, Jorge, invited to their MMA school back in 2003.  I’ve always been into martial arts so I checked it out.  This wasn’t your average martial arts gym,  the session was on a Thursday morning and they were going all out with their drills and grappling.  Kenney was the head instructor for the day, he quickly introduced himself, and asked me if I wanted to train with them.  I happily agreed and grappled with his students. I learned a lot of new techniques that day. Kenney is a great teacher, who is passionate about …

G.I. Joe Movie Baroness Figure From China

Our longtime reader, Paladin, hooked us up with some pictures of the movie Baroness figure he got off eBay.  This hasn’t been released in the U.S.  He got the figure for $15 including shipping from a Chinese seller.

I’m surprised how good the figure looks.  Love the outfit and her guns.  Still looks like old school G.I. Joe with a modern twist.

Victorian Era Star Wars and Comic Figures

Victorian Era Star Wars and Comic Figures

superman Victorian Era Star Wars and Comic Figures

I accidentally found Sillof’s custom figures when I was googling for  Batman toys.  I noticed the figures on his site didn’t look familiar.  Upon doing further investigation, I found out that all the figures were created by him.

What I love about Sillof’s work is the little details he puts into each figure.  For example, the Victorian Era Aquaman.  Sillof gave him a scuba diver outfit.  But instead of wearing it on the ocean, he thought Aquaman should be wearing it on land because he has lived most of his life in the ocean.   There’s a reason for Sillof’s designs and …

On Sunday, my friends were involved with the Vietnamese Association Show(VSA) at Orange Coast College.  I tagged along to see what the show was all about.  Initially, Mongoose was suppose to take care of the photo shoot.  But he got sick over the weekend so I took over his duty.  I’m not as good as Mongoose when it comes to photography but I’m comfortable enough to shoot with a DSLR.

Our first ever vintage toy of the week goes to the living legend, Chuck Norris.  This toy came out when Chuck had his own cartoon tv show in the mid eighties called Karate Kommandos.  The show only had five episodes but Kenner still made toys out of it.  I don’t blame them, everyone loves Chuck Norris.

Vintage Toy Of The Week: Chuck Norris Undercover Agent

I had this toy when I was a kid and then I lost it. Didn’t think much of the figure until I saw it on Ebay and got it for less than $5. So sad that Chuck Norris isn’t worth more…but then again, I saved …
