Recently, Nerdsociety.com had the chance to interview a cosplayer named Kate. She has an interesting selection of outfits and a great story.
NERDSOCIETY.COM (NS): Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us at Nerdsociety.com. Can you tell us a little about yourself, where you are from, how old you are and how long have you been cosplaying?
KATE (K): Well, I’m from Ontario, Canada, I’m 22 years old and I have been cosplaying for the last 4 to 5 years ^_^ However, from the time I was a child I’ve loved costumes ^_~
NS: Awesome! …
Welcome to the world of American cosplay. For those of you that don’t know, the world of cosplay involves creating and dressing up like your favorite characters from nerdy mediums like anime, manga, video games, fantasy, or sci-fi movies. We had a chance to chat with Ginny McQueen, a popular cosplayer in the community. Ginny talks about life as a cosplayer, her favorite things about cosplaying, and her experience on MTV. She’s as hardcore as they come, and she’s sexy to boot!
NERDSociety: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Ginny McQueen: Hmm, where to begin? I’m a big nerd …
Last week, we interviewed Susan Hancock, the owner of maid cafe: Royal/T. In this second part of the interview, we talk to one of the lovely maids, Kat.
Nerdsociety(NS): How did you find this job?
Kat(K): I’m a cos-player and I read about a maid cafe opening up in America on the internet. I was so happy when I found out that Royal-T was near my apartment and I scheduled a job interview immediately!
NS: What’s your favorite part of the job?
K: I love meeting customers! Royal-T events and parties are so fun because you can meet people …
I heard of Royal/T through Pacific Media Expo. Royal/T was promoted as a cafe with maids dressed in anime outfits. I thought it’d just have maids serving us teas and snacks. My friends and I decided to drive to Culver City and check out the place.…
Went to Royal/T to check out Zippercut’s first event: Rococo Rendezvous. The event had most people in Marie Antoinette like outfits, while others were dressed up in steampunk and goth outfits. Got to the place around 9 p.m. and the place was already packed. People were mingling and a lot of pictures were taken.
Here’s a video of the event:…
I went to my first ever “Doll” show at Royal-T in Culver City. I’ve heard people call these dolls “elfdolls” or “ball-jointed dolls.” Well, it wasn’t just a doll show, it was also a gathering of lolita cosplayers. I have to say that I was surprisingly impressed with what I saw. When I first heard of the event, I was expecting to see just regular looking dolls like Barbie and such. But these dolls were so much different. And NO, it’s not just for girls. Scott, the owner of Valley Of The Dolls, who co-promoted the event, is an avid …
Pacific Media Expo (PMX) is similar event to Anime Expo (AX): experiencing Japanese pop culture, especially Anime. Both events have cosplayers. But this is where the similarities end. While Anime Expo has become a huge event every July 4th weekend, Pacific Media Expo is on its last legs. But just because PMX is on its deathbed, didn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. …
Anime Expo was truly a blast. Here we have the finale of Anime Expo 2008. The Tentacle Brothers say farewell and meets up with more nerds, a tentacle artist, Hawaiian Jason, crossplayers, Pac-Man’s ghosts, a Yaoi fan, pimp Mario, Tetris block, and plenty of tentacle fans (especially the last one). Hopefully you guys enjoy it as much as we enjoyed covering it.
Tune in the next time when the Tentacle Brothers party it up at E for All, the bastard child of E3!…
