Fan of X-Japan, or even just Yoshiki??

This weekend, NERDsociety.com will be attending the Wizard World: Philly, pop culture convention at the Philadelphia Convention center.

Some of the special guests are Patrick Stewart–no description needed. However, I will mention that between Star Trek, X-Men, the Anime Steamboy and countless performances on stage and screen, he is the highlight of this convention.

Also appearing is Bruce Campbell of Evil Dead fame, he has also been on many fantasy TV shows from the Hercules and Xena days where he played the character Autolycus. He also starred in Jack of All Trades and Brisco County Jr.

Cosplayers and anime fans were in full force at Royal/T for the book launch party of  Ejen Chuang’s, “Cosplay In America.”  Tune in Tokyo was on hand to provide the music as guests were boogying to the  latest hip Japanese songs.  Chuang was overwhelmed with the high turnout and the book sold out by the end of the day.

Fans were asking for Chuang’s autograph, which was something new for the photographer.

“I’m not used to this.  Usually, I’m on the back and nobody sees the photographer,” as Chuang explained his newfound fame.

It’s Street Fighter Day with the release of the professional-looking Street Fighter Legacy short. It’s co-directed by Joey Ansah and Owen Trevor. If you’ve watched The Bourne Ultimatum, then you’d probably recognize Ansah as Desh in that brutal fight scene against Matt Damon. Ryu is played by Jon Foo, a martial artist that’s also going to be the main lead in the Tekken movie. Christian Howard is spot on as Ken.

Capcom knows how to party. With a huge studio filled with SSF IV kiosks, contests, giveaways, legendary Street Fighter players, pizza, drinks and cosplayers, thousands of fans gathered to a studio in the middle of a Glendale neighborhood where you had to park on the curb of a residential neighborhood, just like going to a house party.

There was a photo booth where you can be digitally inserted into a Street Fighter 4 background and a booth where you can get your makeup done…no, not to look pretty, but to get some cool scars.
