Long Beach Comic Con 2011 Was A Blast

Long Beach Comic Con 2011 Was A Blast

Over the weekend, nerds and zombies gathered for the 4th Long Beach Comic Con.  I love this con because you can talk to your favorite artists without waiting in long ass lines like San Diego’s Comic Con.  The artists alley had well known names such as David Finch, Darwyn Cooke and Dustin Nguyen.  The prices were more than reasonable for sketches from these great artists.  Finch was giving big discounts left and right, especially to his hardcore fans.

Comics were also at a bargain and were sold as low as $1 for famous Batman issues.  I enjoyed the show and …

It’s that costume-wearing time of year again, folks.  No, I’m not talking about Halloween… It’s Anime Vegas time!  The best cosplaying con east of the Las Vegas Strip is holding its yearly gathering in November, just under a month away.  The Alexis Park Resort will be the location again this year, across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel.

There will be numerous dealers and artists on hand, as well as a masquerade ball and a charity auction of items like signed DVDs, comics and posters.

Guests will include voice over artists from such titles as Dragonball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto

D23 was the place to be for Disney fans of all ages.  There was a lot of hauling to do as plenty of Disney exclusive merchandises were sold through the event including vinylmations and toys.  Celebs came in full force including the actors of the Avengers and the Pixar crew shared their secrets behind their hit movies.  Lion King 3D also made its debut on Saturday night and it felt like a concert with the audience clapping after every song and memorable scenes.

Tanya Tate Invisible Woman San Diego Comic Con 2011 102 Chat With Cosplayer Nerd Tanya Tate

I first saw Tanya Tate, dressed up as The Invisible Woman at Long Beach Comic Con last year.  She looked great and I took a photo of her.  Afterwards, she gave me a flyer about herself.  I googled her name and found out she did some adult movies.  Then I started wondering if she was really into nerd culture or was she just promoting her career.  I was skeptical but the answers she gave for the exclusive interview makes me believe she’s a nerd at heart.

NERDSociety: What’s your most memorable cosplay experience and why?

Tanya Tate:  I have two. The …

Adrianne Curry, best known for winning America’s Next Top Model, got kicked out from Comic-Con for showing too much skin.  She was wearing an Aeon Flux costume which revealed her rear end.  The cops decided it was too much for the event and told her to tie a shirt around her waist as she was signing autographs for fans.  After the signing they booted her out and she changed to costume which showed less skin.

Seeing a lot of revealing cosplayers, I don’t think her costume is too revealing.  So maybe the secret rule is that cleavage is okay but not …

Mato Kuroi Is Black Rock Shooter…The Figma!

Waiting 5 or 6 months for a pre-order is a headache in itself, however I couldn’t be more happier!

Mato 1 743x1024 Mato Kuroi Is Black Rock Shooter...The Figma!
Mato Kuroi is Black Rock Shooter. Introduced in the OVA that was included with the BRS Figma, Mato is a happy middle school kid that makes friends with Yomi who just so happens to be Dead Master the rival of Black Rock Shooter.
The OVA is about 50 minutes and it’s mostly easy to follow, there are elements of the story that seem to lead the viewer to think that Mato and Yomi are more than friends; after all, Mato does tell …
