CES 2014 offered the usual heavy hitters in the electronics industry like LG, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, etc., along with a few pleasant surprises. It’s always fun to find those little booths with the really cool gadgets that you’ve never seen before or startups who have taken an already established tech and expanded it into something awe-inspiring.

The Las Vegas Comic Expo returns to the Riviera  Hotel Convention Center for its second year and is expected to be even more exciting than last year!  For his first appearance ever at a con, legendary Batman artist Neal Adams will be on hand for a VIP meet and greet.

GameStop will be holding its annual gaming tradeshow on Wednesday August 28 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.  Tony Bartel, the president of GameStop, had this to say about the event: “Based on the great response we saw at our inaugural event last year, we knew we were on to something. This year at EXPO we expect to host more than 80 developers, publishers and vendors and thousands of visitors. We are also expanding our exhibition floor, giving our partners more space to share their great games and consumer electronics with our enthusiastic fan base.”

Very cool.…

The aptly named Amazing! Las Vegas Comic Convention was held at the South Point casino over the past weekend. Fans lined up and came in droves to buy shwag but also to see special guests like Stan Lee, Jim Lee and Greg Capullo. There were rows and rows of booths and artists’ tables as well and if your feet got tired from all the walking around, you could take a break and check out one of the many panels offered like various Q&A’s with artists like Batman’s Greg Capullo, writers like the Uncanny Xmen’s Rick Remender or indie comic film screenings …

Long Beach Comic Con (LBCC) is securing its spot as my favorite convention!

LBCC has two shows, a one day event and smaller show in spring.  The other one is their big 3 day event in fall.

The spring event was this past Saturday and the experience was great.  Sure, there’s not as many vendors as WonderCon or Comikaze but I got to talk to more artists and discuss….art.  My brother and I are currently working (hopefully revealed in 2 months) on a shirt project so we made the rounds and asked them for critiques.
