Comics: Back To Brooklyn

Comics: Back To Brooklyn

backtobrooklyn Comics: Back To Brooklyn

In Jimmy Palmiotti and Garth Ennis fashion, Back to Brooklyn is a violent story about two brothers; two brothers trying to bury each other. The brothers are heads of a crime family, but the story starts with one brother walking into a police station to turn himself in. He makes some calls, and decides that he wants to be let loose for two days. Two days is what he needs to get to his brother.

The story is dark, and violent, but simple. The writing is good, but nothing I haven’t seen or read before. If you are familiar with …

New Green Lantern Set Pics

Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern costume movie image 452x600 New Green Lantern Set PicsNew set pictures have surface showing star Ryan Reynolds in what appears to be a motion capture suit on the set of The Green Lantern.  Earlier reports indicated that Ryan’s Green Lantern Suit will be entirely CG for the film.  Not too long ago pictures also surfaced of Green Lantern villain Hector Hammond played by the usually handsome looking Peter Sarsgraad.

One picture that I’ve been looking foreword to seeing is Mark Strong as Green Lantern mentor/nemesis Sinsetor.  In an interview with USA Today Strong confirmed that the film would follow the original story of the comic books.

thor2 Thor!Well if you haven’t heard by now then your obviously not among the millions of people who watched IRON MAN 2IRON MAN 2 topped the Box-Office at #1 making 133 million on it’s opening weekend.  Even with success of the film everyone was talking about the scene after the credits that featured Thor’s trusty hammer Mjöllnir. The hammer appears next to a gigantic crater which many believed that Mjöllnir is what created it but after reviewing the scene I noticed that the S.H.I.E.L.D agent says that they had found “him” not “it.”  So its got to be Thor laying …

Retro Comics: Frank Miller’s Daredevil

Retro Comics: Frank Miller’s Daredevil

daredevilmanwithoutfear1 Retro Comics: Frank Millers Daredevil

Most avid comic book readers has probably read this. But, as a casual reader, I barely got around to it, and I’m glad that I did. In Frank Miller fashion, the writing is superb; it is harsh and direct, it goes straight to the point.

Daredevil – Man Without Fear is like Batman: Year One. It’s Frank Miller’s version on how Matt Murdock became the Daredevil. I can see how the movie with Ben Affleck tried to go Miller’s route but failed short. Miller’s version is darker, it’s more tragic than the movie. As the reader, I was …

Legendary Artist Frank Frazetta Passes Away

Legendary Artist Frank Frazetta Passes Away

Comic book artist Frank Frazetta passed away today from stroke complications.  He was 82 years old.  Frazetta helped redefine the comic heroes in the mid 60’s with “Conan The Adventure“.  His trademark triangle composition consisted of a character usually standing over a cliff or a boatload of enemies, forming a triangular layout.  His work has been influential in the entertainment industry including comics and movies.  Guillermo Del Toro, director of Blade 2 said some of his shots were based on “Frazetta’s covers because they made the characters monumental.”

RIP Frank Frazetta…

Below are some of his awesome work:…

Robert Downey Jr and Jon Favreau Surprises Audiences on Midnight Showing 02 Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau Surprise Fans at Midnight Showing of Iron Man 2

We decided to catch Iron Man 2 at the Arclight Cinemas at the Cinerama Dome since we just came out of a Capcom Party and was hoping that a theater in Hollywood would have seats available for the opening day midnight showings. Luckily for us, the Arclight had a lot of showings starting from 12:00am to 12:31am. We chose the 12:31am showing because we came in a group and that showing had some good seats left.
