Based on a manga by Hiroyu Oka, Gantz is a live-action feature-length film co-starring Kenichi Matsuyama, the very popular actor who played the eccentric genius “L” in Death Note: L Change the World, and equally famous actor/musician Ninomiya Kazunari aka Nino. The anime adaptation is rated TV-MA and contains some pretty graphic violence and sex. But the movie seems to have managed to veer away from at least some of those more extreme aspects as it was given a PG-13 rating.
Gantz is about these two guys who get killed and end up in an apartment version of limbo with …

Darren Aronofsky’s (Black Swan) next movie will be Wolverine starrring Hugh Jackman but the director is working on a graphic novel about Noah. Yes, that Noah, the man who built a huge wooden boat when the world was flooding. The artist for the project is Nico Henrichon (Pride Of Baghdad) so you know the artwork will be great.

Short but entertaining. I like the classic look, much better than the cell-shaded drawings that they prefer nowadays.…
Comic Con 2011 registration started on Saturday, Feb 5, 2011. Today, someone from Spawn.com checked the tickets and it’s now sold out.
Thanks to Edmondson for the pic.
Other companies have tried to capitalize on comic conventions like Wizard but for some reason, no one really goes to those. They like their comic con in San Diego…but New York is getting big too.…
Stu Levy, the guy who founded Tokyopop, the American manga distributor who introduced titles like Cardcaptor Sakura, is hosting a reality series called America’s Greatest Otaku. In it, he’ll be traversing the United States, 20 cities to be exact, interviewing different fans of the subculture at cons and such. For those who might not know what an otaku is, the American definition is someone who is really into manga, anime, video games, etc. But not every fan of the popular culture can be considered an otaku; this person lives and breathes the stuff. The term “otaku” doesn’t have any really …
The question: “Who’s your favorite DC character and why?”
The prize: Superman/Batman: Apocalypse Blu-Ray
Many joined and chose Batman as their favorite DC character. Some picked Superman while a few went with Green Lantern. One suprised us by going with Martian Manhunter. Overall, it was exciting reading all of the entries. Some were funny like this one from Chris J:
“Also he (Superman) reminds me of my grandfather because he wears his underwear outside his pants.”
We laughed for a good minute.
Most people chose Batman because he doesn’t have super powers, which makes him a true hero. But the winner …
2011 must be the year of “shocking” deaths in comics. We’ve heard Cobra Commander and Zorro killed off, now it’s one of the Fantastic Four. Comic books are usually released on Wednesdays but Fantastic Four #587 was released, yesterday, on a Tuesday. Marvel decided the release to make the story more special.
**Spoilers Ahead **
Comicbokresources reported that while the death of Johnny Storm aka Human Torch attracted non collectors to comic book stores, it didn’t have the impact that Marvel got with the death of Captain America. Comic book shops reported that supply will definitely demand with some ordering 15 …
