Ame-comi is a DC Direct action figure line consisting of female characters influenced by Japanese anime.  I have one figure from the line, Wonder Woman.  At $50 per figure and rising, they’re not cheap.  I thought this line wasn’t popular because most toy messageboards I frequent, don’t like the line.  The collector’s think it’s overpriced, while the hardcore anime fans think that it doesn’t represent manga very well.

So it was a surprise to me that 3 of the character’s costumes will be sold exclusively online at Costume Craze.  Wonder Woman, Catwoman and Supergirl will be available in the summer …

WB’s DC animation movie is a hit or miss.  You have crappy ones like Superman:  Doomsday and Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.  But then there are the good ones like Batman: Under The Red Hood and Wonder Woman.  Superman/Shazam!: The Return Of Black Adam falls in the latter.  The cartoon has 4 short episodes with each one running about 15 minutes.  They are: The Return Of Black Adam, Spectre, Green Arrow and Jonah Hex.  Some of the stories aren’t really meant for kids because of the dark themes.  My favorite had to be Spectre because it reminded of revenge flicks like Man On …

Doomsday, the monster that killed Superman, will be back in May in Action Comics #901.  From the cover it seems like Doomsday will take on Superman and his “Super” allies.  Here’s the official word from DC:

I wish Thor would be as serious and bad ass as the poster above but this new trailer still screams…CRAP!  Besides X-Men: First Class, what’s with the big budget comic book movies coming out this year and bright cinematography.  It seems like the studios want to cater to kids and sell merchandise.  Action scenes look good for Thor but overall, not excited about it. …

That’s what’s going to happen if Matthew Vaughn (who according to Deadline London is currently in LA editing X-Men First Class) gets his way.  Vaughn is said to already have a major studio interested in this project called The Golden Age which is an adaptation of an as of yet unpublished comic book about – get this – a retirement home for superheroes.  As the story goes, mom and dad screw up the world for little Johnny and Grandpa’s the only one who can save him.

As previously reported on Nerdsociety, NBC had greenlighted a Wonder Woman pilot to be written and produced by David E. Kelley of Harry’s Law and Ally McBeal, a guy who obviously has a lot of experience writing for strong female characters.  According to Deadline Hollywood, Adrianne Palicki has landed the title role in the reboot.  She was reportedly the only actress called in to screen test.  You also might recognize her from Friday Night Lights, Legion and Electra Luxxx.  The director of the pilot Jeff Reiner, coincidentally, also directed Friday Night Lights.

We’ve all heard about the misfortunes of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Broadway show. Members of the cast got injured during rehearsals, story re-writes, and bad reviews. It’s only right that SNL does a well-deserved skit.
