Clamp No Kiseki Chess Set!

I’ve played chess for fun since I was a kid and I enjoy it if I win or lose. The fun for me is in the game itself. I’ve been looking for a very special chess set for years and there are a lot out there–many have caught my eye, but none like the Clamp No Kiseki chess set.

stephen amell vampire diaries casting Casting News: Stephen Amell Is Green Arrow

As previously reported on NerdSociety, the CW is working on a show called Arrow which centers around the DC comic character Green Arrow.  The actor cast in the lead role isn’t exactly a household name at this juncture, but Stephen Amell has appeared on Vampire Diaries, 90210, Private Practice and Hung. He was also in the running to replace Andy Whitfield on Spartacus.

There really isn’t much more to say about him other than when he isn’t wearing the scruffy 2 day growth, he’s a bit of a pretty boy.  He does sport a 12 pack, which is sure …

The CW is about to order a pilot for a series called “Arrow” based on the DC comic character Green Arrow.  The show will be an hour long and will be written and produced by the guys who brought us The Green Lantern, Greg Berlanti and Mark Guggenheim, along with Andrew Kreisberg (Vampire Diaries, Fringe).  Kreisberg has also written several Green Arrow comics for DC in the past.  David Nutter (Smallville, X-files) will likely be directing. This apparently will not be a spin-off of the Green Arrow who appeared on Smallville because Justin Hartley is not currently a …

nfl superpro tim tebow Comic Watch: Its Tebow Time!

With all the Tebow hype that’s been going around, it was only a matter of time before Disney – I mean, ESPN, er Marvel – decided to come out with a Tebow comic book.  The studio(s) had this to say: “Like the Marvel heroes who pull off last-minute victories, Tim Tebow has fans around the world on the edge of their seats and believing that in our own lives when time is running out and all looks lost, we can dig deep inside and use our various strengths to triumph over insurmountable odds.” Not that I don’t get it.  …

Oh oh.  Could it be? And it seemed like the live-action Akira was full steam ahead, what with Garrett Hedlund scoring the part of Kaneda and Kristen Stewart being offered the role of Kai, not to mention additional offers being extended to Ken Watanabe and Helena Bonham Carter to co-star.  But then it seemed something was wrong when Warner had announced the contenders for the Tetsuo role and said they’d be making a decision before Thanksgiving then all we heard was crickets coming from them all through December. Now comes news that they’ve closed down their production office in Vancouver …

Uchuu Kyoudai is a manga by Koyama Chuya about two brothers, Mutta and Hibito, who make a childhood pact to go into outer space after witnessing what looks like a UFO headed toward the moon.  The younger brother goes for his dream while the older one follows a more conventional path.  The film stars two alumni of the popular Japanese teen drama Hana-Kimi, Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada.

From the trailer, the film adaptation looks like it might be a little humorous and poignant at the same time. Coldplay provides the theme song “Every Teardrop is a Watrfall.” The film …

Trailer: Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samurai X)

Rurouni Kenshin started out as a manga in Japan in 1992 and has since been adapted into an anime series, OVAs, video games and now has evolved into a live-action, full-length feature film.   Originally aimed at teens, Kenshin’s overall popularity can be easily credited to its lone samurai/romance formula.  However, writer/illustrator Nobuhiro Watsuki did originally intend the story to be swordsman-centered as opposed to a romance.

This is a synopsis of the film compliments of Comic Book Movie:

Japan is about to enter the Meiji era and transition from the Middle Ages to industrialization. The samurai have no place in this

DC announced that they will be releasing a new Jim Lee JLA ensemble shirt on Free Comic Day 2012.  The shirt will be available for sale at comic shops on April 11 and the free comic event will be on May 5th. Jim Lee’s design is an homage to José Luis García-López’s classic group shot of the JLA.  Below is the pic of the original.  I actually prefer the old school version.  The composition is better because they really look like a team.  With Jim Lee’s version, it seemed like he just drew the characters and made them stand next to …

harleyq2 Harley Quinns New Origin In January

Harley Quinn is one of the most beloved villains in Batman’s rogue gallery due in part to her charm, attractive outfit and witty lines.  She’s also been in the 2 latest Batman games and she’s getting more popular than ever.  Starting in January, DC will have a new origin for her in Suicide Squad #7.  Paul Dini and Bruce Timm created the original backstory for Quinn in 1994 in the comic “Mad Love.”  It was actually a pretty good story as it reveals that Harley Quinn was Joker’s psychiatrist.  She fell in love with Joker and decided to be his main …
