As previously reported on NerdSociety, the CW is working on a show called Arrow which centers around the DC comic character Green Arrow.  The actor cast in the lead role isn’t exactly a household name at this juncture, but Stephen Amell has appeared on Vampire Diaries, 90210, Private Practice and Hung. He was also in the running to replace Andy Whitfield on Spartacus.

The CW is about to order a pilot for a series called “Arrow” based on the DC comic character Green Arrow.  The show will be an hour long and will be written and produced by the guys who brought us The Green Lantern, Greg Berlanti and Mark Guggenheim, along with Andrew Kreisberg (Vampire Diaries, Fringe).  Kreisberg has also written several Green Arrow comics for DC in the past.  David Nutter (Smallville, X-files) will likely be directing. Uchuu Kyoudai is a manga by Koyama Chuya about two brothers, Mutta and Hibito, who make a childhood pact to go into outer space after witnessing what looks like a UFO headed toward the moon.  The younger brother goes for his dream while the older one follows a more conventional path.  The film stars two alumni of the popular Japanese teen drama Hana-Kimi, Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada.

Rurouni Kenshin started out as a manga in Japan in 1992 and has since been adapted into an anime series, OVAs, video games and now has evolved into a live-action, full-length feature film.   Originally aimed at teens, Kenshin’s overall popularity can be easily credited to its lone samurai/romance formula.  However, writer/illustrator Nobuhiro Watsuki did originally intend the story to be swordsman-centered as opposed to a romance.

DC announced that they will be releasing a new Jim Lee JLA ensemble shirt on Free Comic Day 2012.  The shirt will be available for sale at comic shops on April 11 and the free comic event will be on May 5th. Harley Quinn is one of the most beloved villains in Batman’s rogue gallery due in part to her charm, attractive outfit and witty lines.  She’s also been in the 2 latest Batman games and she’s getting more popular than ever.  Starting in January, DC will have a new origin for her in Suicide Squad #7.  Paul Dini and Bruce Timm created the original backstory for Quinn in 1994 in the comic “Mad Love.”  It was actually a pretty good story as it reveals that Harley Quinn was Joker’s psychiatrist.  She fell in love with Joker and decided to be his main …
