Iron Man Iron Man: Anime, DVD Review!

I’m probably the LAST person to rate something related to Iron Man, I’m not big on most of what Marvel does, however I am an old school fan of Anime and so I looked at it through the eyes of an Anime fan and man, I was very impressed.

Written by Marvel’s Warren Ellis and re-written from that story by the writers at Madhouse in Japan, the Iron Man Anime takes the viewer into a later stage of Tony Stark’s career. Tony travels to Japan with nothing but peace in mind after years of manufacturing and selling weapons. In order to …

Who would’ve thought that television could actually get people to read?  It’s always been known as having the opposite effect. Bookscan’s list tells another tale as titles like The Walking Dead and A Game of Thrones dominate. While these publications do have other literary tie-ins, the influence of their TV adaptations on sales is undeniable. Also on the list is Diablo III: Book of Cain HC which is based on the popular video game.

Sailor Moon and Naruto are holding on to the 2nd and 3rd spots but manga in general got edged out by numerous volumes of The Walking

Go to your comic shop now and buy all 7 issues of the relaunched Batman title!!

Or if you’re low on cash, wait until May and get the hardcover collection for $14 through Amazon.

Written by Scott Snyder (American Vampire) and drawn by Greg Capullo (Spawn), “Court Of Owls” is the current storyline in Batman.  I’m not going to spoil the plot but the caped crusader goes against a new foe called the Talon.  The villain belongs to a bigger mysterious organization that has a secret past in Gotham.

I thought the story would get crappier as it went along but …

Velvet Underground Comics in Las Vegas

Velvet Underground Comics in Las Vegas

Just a few minutes off the Las Vegas Strip, in an older part of town, set back from the street in one of the first strip malls the city ever built, sits a comic book store that is known by comic collectors nationwide.  It’s called Velvet Underground Comics. Previously called Riddler Comics, owner Steven Riddle – aka The Riddler- has been serving comic fans for over 20 years.

When I first walked into Velvet Underground, it was like stepping into another realm.  The interior was nothing that I had expected in a comic book store. I felt like I was …

DVD Review: Gantz 2 Perfect Answer

Let me just start out by saying that I really liked the first Gantz film.  I know that a lot of fans of the Manga did not like it and that’s to be expected with film adaptations. Rarely does one live up to its literary predecessor.  Being also  a fan of Kenichi Matsuyama (“L” of Death Note), I thought he did a decent job in the first Gantz and was looking forward to seeing what Kurono was going to do with his 100 pts. in the sequel.

If you’re not familiar with the story, without giving too much away, …

hires2 Threadless Election 2012: Ninjas Rule & Others Fall

The world’s best shirt company, Threadless, is having an election and absurd candidates have joined the race.  But only one will prevail, the ninjas!

Dictionary.com defines a ninja asa member of a feudal Japanese society of mercenary agents, highly trained in martial arts and stealth (ninjutsu), who were hired for covert purposes ranging from espionage to sabotage and assassination. “

That’s all true, except for the “feudal Japanese society” jargon.  We all know ninjas exist amongst us today and loved by everyone. Having said that, this election will be an easy kill (pun intended) for our ninjas against …

In the following clip, Stan Lee admits that he’s not a gamer, but will be appearing as a playable character in the next Amazing Spiderman game. Last November he gave the Hollywood Reporter his view of the gamer experience:  “A good video game needs great characters that the player can relate to and great powers that the characters have,” he said, “which are visually exciting and fun to use when you’re holding that controller, hitting those keys, and making the character do what he has to do. They also love great backgrounds. The players also love themes they haven’t played before.”
