timthumb Movie Review: DREDD 3 D

I was not excited for Dredd, in fact before going to see it I was mentally preparing myself for another genericsci-fi/action movie with a comic book character slapped onto it and boy was I wrong! Dredd 3-D is easily one of the best films I have seen this year and you would be doing yourself a dis service by not seeing it!

The greatest thing about this film is the very character of Judge Dredd, a character that is sort of a mix between Nolans Batman and Rorschach from Watchmen. He is a man who has completely devoted himself to enforcing …

Midnight, Mass., a comic first put out by DC/Vertigo in 2002, has been given the go ahead for small screen adaptation by NBC. Evan Daugherty, who co-wrote Snow White and the Huntsman, will be scripting the show and Warner Brothers will be producing.

The title Midnight, Mass. is a play on a late night Catholic church service given around Christmas time. It also refers to a coastal town in Massachusetts that, in this story, is like a supernatural playground. The main characters are a married couple who jet-set around the world working as paranormal investigators. They also have …

A few days ago, Jeffrey Errico posted some storyboards he did for the opening scenes of Warner’s live-action Akira. Now artist Chris Weston has posted pics of storyboards that he created for the film on his website. These show Tetsuo and some night scenes in “Neo-Manhattan.”

Weston had this to say about his work on the film: “Here’s some of the storyboards I drew for Albert Hughes’ live-action adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo’s classic graphic novel,”Akira”. Here’s a few of them; hopefully they reveal just how much love we had for the source material and how faithful we were going to

We might not get to see the American live-action adaptation of Akira any time soon but artist Jeffrey Errico, who worked on the opening storyboards for the now shelved project, has given us a little something to remember it by. Although the project had a director and two lead actors (Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart), budgeting issues caused it to be shut down.

Here is a synopsis of what could have been:

Kaneda is a bar owner in Neo-Manhattan who is stunned when his brother, Tetsuo, is abducted by government agents led by The Colonel. Desperate to get his brother

Okay so the last Wonder Woman TV show was dead on arrival. A sure sign the project was in trouble before it even started was all the outcry over the costume. Then came the set photos of a decked out Wonder Woman running through the streets – yikes.

So now they’ve decided to go back and make an origin story about how Wonder Woman came to be; sort of like a feminist version of Smallville, I guess. The working title is Amazon. Grey’s Anatomy/OC scribe Allen Heinberg is penning the script but he does have some superhero experience having …

Yes I’m back for another review and this time its off the first volume of Winter Soldier by Ed Brubaker and Butch Guice.  Now Brubaker is single handedly the man that made me love Captain America.  His work on the character has been interesting but none of it would be possible if not for Bucky Barnes AKA Winter Soldier AKA my new favorite Marvel character.

Now I want to get the bad out of the way first so I can focus on the stuff that really worked.  While I did read the original Winter Soldier story by Brubaker, I have NOT …

Comic Review: Avenging Spider-Man Vol.1 (#1-5)

AvSM01 001 Comic Review: Avenging Spider Man Vol.1 (#1 5)

As some of you know from my short lived weekly comic review articles, I was not a fan of the Spider-Man books at the time and for the most part im still not!

However back in the ancient days of November 2011, I heard about a new ongoing series featuring Spider-Man teaming up with various other super heroes.

Now I’m still strongly against the Avengers constantly showing up in Amazing Spider-Man when a tittle made specifically for team ups with them exists, but I put my prejudice aside and got into Avenging Spider-Man and I still dont regret it (mostly).

This …
