Brock Lesnar was the undisputed champion before Saturday night, overpowering his opponents and beating the crap out of them. But on Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, challenger Cain Velasquez stepped up to the bully and beat the champ in the first round. I don’t really care that Brock lost because he’s still new to the MMA scene (2 years) . But I didn’t like the fact that he just curled up like a baby as Velasquez was punching him. Lesnar did this too against Carwin but he recovered and won the fight. Lesnar should’ve learned from the Carwin fight that he can’t take punches and trained for it. At least bust a guard but don’t lay on the ground, turning away from your opponent and just blindly raising your hands up to block punches. Lesnar is supposedly the guy that can take out Fedor and he doesn’t even know how to defend properly. All the hype Dana White said about Lesnar just backfired. But then again Fedor lost to Werdum a couple of months ago, so maybe this is the time to set up the match. See, who’s the bigger loser: Lesnar or Fedor.
Lesnar said he didn’t want to take the fight on Saturday because it was too soon after the Carwin fight but I don’t know if an extra month or two would have helped Lesnar. Velasquez was a machine, not backing down from Lesnar’s aggressive method. Velasquez impressed the hell out of me with his excellent boxing and great wrestling. Did you see him bounce back up after he got taken down? It looked unreal. The best thing about Velasquez was his composure. He was calm and he was confident enough to know that he can handle the beast that is Lesnar. The fight on Saturday was one of the best of the year.
If Brock can’t make it in the UFC, he always has another career:

it’s people’s fault for assuming he was the champ because he was a great fighter. He’s not yet a complete fighter, he won because of his speed and size, and for the most part it was enough. Now, I wonder if he can beat JDS since all the guy does is throw uppercuts!
I think Lesnar will be back, and his punches looked better than it did against Carwin. Let him fight Kongo, lol!
