Bitch’in Toy Of The Week: Cobra Viper Commando With Serpent Armor!

So…it’s Saturday, I worked all day and come home tired and all I want to do is rest and waste time on the internet…Well, I went to a certain specialty shop that thinks everything is hot and rare and charges double, triple, quadruple! And people seem to buy it…

Well, NOT ME!

I’ve been looking for a 1983 S.N.A.K.E. Armor from the original G.I. Joe line for maybe a year and a half and kept putting it off. Retailing for about $3 in 1983 it now goes for $15 on average loose and a bit more packaged. Then, out of nowhere I find this Target Exclusive of “Serpent Armor” that I MUST HAVE!

I got re-dressed, pulled the car out of the garage and drove to one of 2 Target stores that are maybe a mile apart down the road from each other. First I went to the new one which is in a mall and NOTHING! I was disappointed! So then I went to the smaller one that I had passed to go to the mall store. And! There they were, 2 of them! I grabbed them both and for an added bonus I picked up a figure too and for the price of $28 (rounded off) I got 2 S.N.A.K.E.’s and the figure. The S.N.A.K.E. was $10.99 each.

The specialty store on the internet wanted $30 for ONE! RIP-OFF! BIG RIP-OFF!

So, about the toy itself, it’s the same mold from 1983, except the date stamp was changed to 2009 (of course!) It comes in black plastic as you can see instead of the original white or later blue. It pops apart into 9 pieces by splitting at the legs and the body with 2 arms that move on joints and finally a hard rubber frame or “tree” in the center to assemble the armor without a figure inside. Also included are four interchangeable hands or arm weapons which the 2 not in use can be pressed into the back where some pegs are.  There is also a sticker sheet which brings back memories, hopefully they are straighter than when I put them on as a kid.

Also included is a Cobra Viper Commando, he is complete with 2 rifles that peg to the sides of his backpack, a pistol and a figure stand.

The Cobra Viper Commando with Serpent Armor is a Target exclusive and VERY affordable when buying from them.

This isn’t just the bitch’in toy of the week–for me–it’s the ultimate toy of the week!
