I decided to write a blog about colognes tonight………………..because I’m metro (pops the collar!) and smelling good never goes out of style, even for us fanboys. Colognes have gotten a bad rap for years, and with good reason. A lot of them smell like ass. I’ve been using cologne for a while now though, and there are several amazing ones. I picked only top designer colognes. I have chosen the five best colognes on the market, and a few of the worst.
My advice is to go to a department store and ask to try some of my favorites (there are always testers sitting around or you can ask for free samples), then head over to amazon.com (stores are a rip-off) and order your favorite. Apply just one spray to each side of your neck before heading out to da club. You’re guaranteed to get compliments…..and no, the cheap and crappy body sprays don’t attract any ladies, they smell horrendous, dudes.
Top 5 Colognes
1. Armani Black Code- masculine, smells incredible but I can’t afford it. Its the top of the cologne market though. Also try Acqua Di Gio and Armani Code.
2. Kenneth Cole RSVP- I’ve tried this often and actually gotten compliments when I’ve been out with girls. They seem to love its strong (but sweet-smelling) aroma. Kenneth Cole makes lots of quality products. Also try Kenneth Cole Black.
3. CKIN2U- It’s what I’m wearing now. A great smelling new cologne from Calvin Klein. It can be had at most department stores, and amazon.com has a great deal on a large bottle right now. Also try the excellent CK One and Eternity from Calvin Klein.
4. Nautica Blue- Nautica is the first cologne I wore a few years back and its still great. Their newer one called Nautica Voyage also smells great.
5. Tommy- Tommy Hilfiger’s classic and light cologne is perfect for daytime use. It’s light and not overpowering at all.
Worst Colognes
1. Instinct by David Beckham- This smells like ass. It’s a foul smelling mess that almost made me gag when I tried out a tester. Bottles are like half off at your local drug store or K-Mart…..and with good reason. This must have been Posh Spice’s doing…..Also avoid “Intimately Beckham”……it has the soccer star’s name on it, and smells just as bad as Instinct, if not worse.
2. Unforgivable by Sean John- Like mostly everything else from P Diddy, this is hype over quality. It doesn’t smell very good and its insanely overpriced, you’re better off with a splash of your Dad’s high karate aftershave.
3. Ed Hardy- Overrated, expensive, and comes in what looks like a can to spray paint graffiti on walls. It’s another overpriced cologne that sucks. Skip it !

Ed Hardy shirts are all over bars and clubs. Some guys look like twins wearing the same shirts.

Ed Hardy has become fashionable thanks to sponsoring a lot of cheesy VH1 reality shows. The shirts are cheesy and WAY overpriced and his cologne isnt much better. You can get something for half the price on amazon.com (Kenneth Cole or Calvin Klein) that smells a lot better.

I like Chanel Allure for men, and Egoiste as a close second. Used to wear Tommy when I was in high school, but can’t say I’d go for it now.

Kick ass article! i would recommend some Gucci, Smells so good and Chanel Allure like Bryan. Chanel is my top 1 cologne of all. Also try some Dolce & Gabbana Classic, its always in style.
