Empire confirmed through Michael Caine (Alfred) that the next Batman film will start production next year. They will start filming in May, and finish by the end of the year. So, release date could be December 2011 or will probably be Summer of 2012.
Also, the cinematographer said that they will not be filming in New Orleans. If true, this will more likely put all the Killer Croc rumors to rest.

I think they are shooting in New Orleans because it looks like more of a cesspool than Gotham City. Killer Croc would be cool, but I’ll say what many others are thinking and that’s Martin Short should play the Mad Hatter and someone who can act should play Firefly.
Firefly above all will work great with the realism of the stories because he does one of the scariest, most violent and brutal crimes–arson. Burning buildings, people–you name it! Fire is great to cook with and warm yourself, but when someone uses it for evil, then it’s truly more of a weapon than a gun.
