This stand alone issue deals with Damian, Bruce Wayne’s son, taking over his dad’s mantel. Since Damian’s mother is Talia Al Ghul, Rha Al Ghul’s daughter, he is trained by the league of assasins to show no pity to the criminals. His violent actions are not welcomed by the new Gotham Police but that is only of the problems he encounters.
I won’t spoil anything else since it’s such a fun and interesting read. The new Batman is confused whether to follow his dad’s footsteps, or Rha’s Al Ghul’s. Even though it’s only a stand alone issue, Grant Morrison’s vision of Gotham’s future is pretty detailed. He lets the readers know that Damian is losing control of Gotham and shows us the strategy used to control the criminals. Andy Kubert’s dynamic artwork compliments Morrison’s story very well. The way Kubert compositions the pages are always interesting. His interpretation of Batman is up there with Jim Lee’s (Hush) and Doug Moench’s(Knightfall).
This book is highly recommended for any comic book fans. Even if you are not a hardcore Batman fan, you will enjoy this book.
If you’re interested in the backstory of Damian, I suggest reading Batman #655-658, where he causes major havoc in Gotham city.
