Weekend Movie Review Roundup: Romantic Horse Edition

secretariat1 Weekend Movie Review Roundup: Romantic Horse Edition
Last weekend was great at the movie theatres but this time around, it’s pretty dull.  There’s three major releases, one is about a horse that stars a cougar in Diane Lane.  The other is a love story from a Grey’s Anatomy star.  The last movie comes from Horror legend, Wes Craven.  Let’s see how these movies are doing.

Rottentomatoes.com has given Secretariat a 66% rating.  I’m surprised the rating is this high because it seems like a Sea Biscuit knockoff.  Indie Movies Online liked the movie even with the flaws stating “Even with the wooden acting and a horsepucky script that stops short of the finish line, once the horses take the reins, it’s a thrilling ride.”  Maybe the racing scenes are really well done.  I’ll probably rent this.

Katherine Heigl stars in another romantic comedy with Transformers’ Josh Duhame called Life As We Know It.  Based on the previews, this is your typical chick flick.  It’s getting a low 29% rating and probably not even worth a rental.  Daily Mail states “If you thought things could only get better following Killers and The Ugly Truth (both stars Heigl), you’re in for a nasty surprise.”

My Soul To Take is the latest movie from Wes Craven and it’s getting trashed with not a single positive review.  I guess we’ll wait for his new Scream movie to make his comeback.  Fearnet is disapointed, “From a newcomer, the ineptitude of this film could be understood; from a man like Wes Craven, it feels like a big fat cheat.”

So that’s the short round up for this week.  No movies interest me so I’ll be finishing up Glee and watching the classic Clash Of The Titans from Netflix.
