Sega has announced today that Obsidian’s espionage RPG, Alpha Protocol, has gone gold and is going to be released June 1, 2010. Obsidian was also the team behind the sequel to one of the best well-received Star Wars game ever, Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords. So this game should be very interesting.
As BioWare went on to create a new IP, Mass Effect, Obsidian has also gone the same route with Alpha Protocol. Instead of a sci-fi RPG, it’s focused on espionage RPG. Just imagine Metal Gear Solid as an RPG and you’ll start to get the picture, mixing role-playing, stealth, and action gameplay into the mix. Like Mass Effect, the coolest thing about Alpha Protocol is CHOICE, since it’s choice that affects your relationship with NPCs and it’s choice can change the world around you.
