Last Friday, we went to a friend’s b-day party in a jazz club in Chinatown in L.A. What’s even more weird is that the jazz club was playing ska and reggae music. Afterwards, we went to the trendy Pink’s hot dog stand. It was my first time going to the place. John said it was overrated but still worth going since we were only 20 minutes away from it. Here’s some footage I took of the Pink experience and find out if it lived up to the Hollywood hype:
Just for the food itself, I’d give it a solid B. Including the service, B+. Very friendly crew and welcomed everybody like it was their first visit. I liked this because there were so many hot dogs to choose from, it got overwhelming. The best hot dog joint is still Papaya King in New York City. As you can see from the badly lit video, I tried the New York Dog and Lord Of The Rings. New York Dog didn’t really live up to its real counterpart. The skin did not snap as much and the bun was a bit soft. Lord Of The Rings, I enjoyed more. It came with onion rings on top of the 10 inch hot dog and bbq sauce. It was pretty damn good. The onion rings with the bbq sauce was a good combination. No need to get any side order with the Rings dog.
I’d reccomend Pink’s to anybody in the L.A area, the food is above average and the customer service is great. I’m from Orange County and I wouldn’t specfically drive to Pink’s just to eat there. It’s good but not that good.
