Kid Adventures: Sky Captain
Kid Adventures: Sky Captain is a game designed for the younger audience and none core gamers on the Nintendo Wii system. However, this does not mean that the game is simple, or in any way, kiddy. In this game, the players fly around to take on challenges and missions, and by finishing the missions and challenges, they players will unlock many different types of planes, new challenges, and more worlds to explore. The game utilizes the Wiimote’s tilt sensors and translates the tilting movement of the Wiimote into controls of the aircraft. The ease of control and the difficulty of the challenges are just at the right balance for both younger players and older casual players to enjoy this game.

At a first look the game seemed to be very fun and a bit challenging, the motion controls were very responsive with the movements of the Wiimote and the challenges required lots of skills and practice. For any flying fan this game is a must check out, and with a price point of $19.99, it’s a great pick up for both kids and adults.

Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow

Fans of Mistwalker’s old school RPG and Akira Toriyama work will be happy to know that a new version of Blue Dragon is set to release on the Nintendo DS. Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow expands on the original Blue Dragon by letting you customize your own character and allowing you to power them up any way you like. The customization of the game allows you to power up any item in the game with any type of status bonus, so you can do whatever you want to all of your items collected in the game. Shadows return to the game and you can customize what character get which one of 6 possible shadows with each shadows having its own specialty. In Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow you control a custom character you created that joined the team of the characters of the story while the rest are controlled by computer AI. In this game, there are no levels to the characters themselves; the strength of the characters is determined by the level of the shadow they are equipped with and the items they are equipped with.

Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow is a real time action RPG and the ability to play with your friends who also own a copy of the game and a DS.

Puzzle Quest 2

Puzzle quest 1 was a very interesting game. It combined a point and click RPG with puzzle solving elements that were found in games like bejeweled. Puzzle Quest 2 carried over that same uniqueness and expanded on it. From what was shown at the pre-release game, this game now contains many new classes to choose from, all of the jewel blocks have been re-designed. The game now contains an angled 3d view of the character and the things it can interact with, and this game also introduced the new weapon system.  The new weapon system is very similar to the spells available in the first game; there is a new jewel block in the shape of a fist, which is the action point. With action points, player can choose to attack using the weapon equipped instead of taking a turn with the jewel puzzle.

This game is perfect for anyone to pick and try, since it is simple enough to understand for casual players to get a feel for, and be able to play through the game, yet at the same time it can also be challenging enough for core players to enjoy the challenge that the game presents.

The game will be released on Nintendo DS and Xbox Live Arcade on June 22nd.

Despicable Me:
“Despicable Me” is based on an upcoming movie from Universal. The game will be released on the Playstation 2, PSP, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS. We were introduced to the DS version of the game that has you take control of Gru’s head henchman as they must collect items for Gru’s “evil“ invention as they move in manner similar to old school lemmings. You touch your henchman and as the game progresses multiple henchman and they will start walking towards the direction they are facing, and eventually react to whatever obstacle they run into.

Unfortunately you can’t change any paths they walk but can interact with objects that are located in the stage to help them proceed. The game can be seen as pretty tough but that is where the challenge lies and as you proceed you must control more henchman to proceed, defeat enemies, bypass traps and obstacles.

The PS2, Wii and PSP version of “Despicable Me” will feature a completely different gameplay style than the DS version, stay tuned for a full look at the game.“ Despicable Me” releases July, 6th 2010 and the movie releases July 9th, 2010.
