In celebration of Thanksgiving weekend, we’ve teamed up with Dragon Dynasty to giveaway a great movie!
We’re giving away 5 free DVD copies of the classic kung fu flick, Return Of The 5 Deadly Venoms. The movie was originally called the Crippled Avengers when it first came out in Hong Kong in 1978. Unlike most martial arts movies, this one actually has an interesting plot to go with the great fight scenes. This is a must own title!
“A kung-fu student is instructed by his dying teacher to track down five of the teacher’s ex-students to take down a demonic tyrant. Each of the five is equipped with a lethal martial arts skill, and the teacher fears this might be used for evil purposes. To make things more difficult for the student, not only does the teacher not know the identity of the students (who all wore masks under his training), but some of the students also don’t know each other!”
Since we’re in the Black Friday spirit, the first person to post a comment below will automatically win one copy! You don’t have to fill out the form, it’s your reward for being the early bird.
Entering the contest is simple:
1) Subscribe to our newsletter below by filling out the form.
2) Let us know what’s your favorite martial arts movie by answering the question below. Tell us why it’s your favorite (funny, violent, kick ass, etc). Be as CREATIVE as possible. It can be a foreign or U.S. released movie, doesn’t matter.
3) The first contestant to post a comment will automatically get one DVD copy. The other 4 contestants with the best answers will one one copy each!
4) Contest is for U.S. Residents only. One entry per contest. Contest ends at 11:59 PM on Saturday, 12/04/2010.
5) I will update the comments section with the entries so everyone can read the responses!
Have a great Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks for everyone’s support!

Hard to choose just one! Deadly Venoms 1 and 2, Invincible Pole Fighters, Chinese Super Ninjas, North Shaolin vs South shaolin, Enter the 36th Chamber, Return of Masterkiller, Fist of the White Lotus, etc. Then the Bruce Lee movies came out and I love Way of the Dragon, especially the final fight, Iron Monkey, Once Upon a Time in China 1 and 2, Fist of Legend, Ong Bak! lol

I recently saw “Ip Man” and thought it was awesome. The fight scenes were wicked good.
But I’d have to say my all time favorite is “Master of the Flying Guillotine” with the One Armed Boxer. There are so many different fighters in this but the one that stands out is the guy who stretches like Dhalsim from Street Fighter. Great stuff.

too many to choose from! Hmm. Would probably have to say wuxia films in general (I LOVE those flying fights – reminds me of a Kirby comic).. maybe Iron Monkey (not the ’77 version, the other). That is just a FUN film.
But anything directed by Yuen Woo-Ping works for me!

So hard to pick just one! But I really like Chinese Super Ninjas. I love ninjas! And combine that with my love of the Shaw Bros films plus choreographed fighting starring a few of the Venoms and it’s a bad ass film. I think all the separate ninja clans look cool and this film has perhaps the coolest opening with the tournament between the two schools and the hired ronin samurai. This, the Deadly Venoms 1 and 2, The 36th Chamber, and Fist of the White Lotus are my favorite kung fu movies.

The Legend of Drunken Master.. I can’t remember the last time a martial arts movie made me laugh so hard. Jackie Chan is amazing.. his acting, his humor and his skill. I also love that he does all his own stunts, he is a truly talented bad ass.

My favortie martial arts flick was The Forbidden Kingdom. To me the story reminded me of how martial arts flicks used to be like. Jet Li was great and Jackie Chan was funny, and together they were awesome

From Mike S:
RoboVampire. Hopping ghosts films seem to cherry pick the mythology to fit the level of insanity needed and this film runs the gambit. Zombies, Vampires, Genies,… they are all that and more. Add some hand to hand combat, a knock-off Robo-cop, and lots of random explosions and fire and you’ve got one crazy good time.

My favorite martial arts movie is Bloodsport with Jean-Claude Van Damme as Frank Dux. This movie was based on a true story, but, of course, who knows what is true or false. Still the movie is very entertaining and has lots of drama, suspense, action, and a little humor. (Whatever the factual errors in the movie itself, Frank Dux, the “hero” in the film is acknowledged as a great martial arts master.)
