So I was skimming through this months EGM magazine today and noticed a 300 DVD ad. Since it was produced by Warner Bros. I assumed it would be just for DVD and HD-DVD. Then I looked at it more carefully and noticed it’s also coming for Blu-ray? When the hell did this happen? Because orginally, WB was exclusive for HD-DVD. So I dug up some info and found out that WB announced that they’re doing both platforms since 2005. Where the fuck was I?Â
One thing for sure, this is good for the consumers. Competition’s always good. It makes two rival companies work hard for our money. And plus, they have HD-DVD/Blu-ray players out there so that should make things easier for the consumers. Mark your calendars for July 31st, because 300 is coming to you on DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray, with over 90 minutes of extras. Prepare for glory!

WB has been releasing on both formats for a while but they clearly side with HD. Training Day on HD had an uncompressed track and better video than the Blu Ray counterpart. Matrix box set was also released on HD to counter the releases of POTC on blu ray. That PS 3 for $500 is tempting to get just for the Blu Ray player but I’ll wait until I see some good games for it.
